The Maharishi Foundation for World Peace Cambodia, with the support of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP), is dedicated to establishing a permanent, large-scale peace-creating group of 10,000 professionals trained in Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi program, including Yogic Flying.

This initiative is designed to generate the Maharishi Effect—a phenomenon, validated by decades of scientific research, in which a relatively small group of individuals practicing advanced meditation techniques together produces measurable improvements in the quality of life for an entire society. By reducing the deep-rooted stress in collective consciousness, the project lays the foundation for lasting harmony, prosperity, and peace.

With the support of GUSP’s global network of scientists and peace researchers, this initiative is backed by rigorous scientific validation.

When 1% of a population practices TM, or when the square root of 1% practices the TM-Sidhi program together in a group, profound and statistically significant improvements occur in the larger community.
Documented improvements include:

• Reduction of crime, conflict, and violence
• Fewer accidents and health emergencies
• Increased economic prosperity and productivity
• Improved international relations and peace between nations

More than 50 peer-reviewed studies, many of them conducted with the support and review of GUSP members, have confirmed these effects. Together, they show that consciousness is a field of interconnectedness, and that by enlivening coherence in this field, society as a whole rises to a higher level of order. The Maharishi Effect, supported and endorsed by leading scientists worldwide, is thus one of the most powerful and practical approaches to peace and social harmony available today.

In addition, a peer-reviewed study published in May 2019 showed that group practice of the Brain-Based Approach to Peace in Cambodia between 1993 and 2008 was associated with a 96.2% decline in sociopolitical violence in that war-torn country, as compared with violence in the preceding three years. The authors concluded the likelihood that this reversal in the rising 1990-1992 trend of violence occurred randomly was one in 10 million (Studies in Asian Social Sciences 6 (2):1-45,2019).
